Welcome to the second edition of Pasifika Pānui, our e-newsletter providing updates on current projects, research activities, and regional initiatives across the Pacific.
This issue features an introduction to Aleki Taumoepoe, Aquatic Biology Technician with expertise in freshwater biosecurity and aquatic plant ecology. We report on a recent research visit to the Ha'apai Islands in Tonga, focused on assessing recovery progress following the 2022 Hunga Tonga–Hunga Ha’apai eruption and tsunami. This issue also includes a regional ocean acidification workshop and a summary of the Adaptation Futures Conference, the largest climate-focused event held in New Zealand.
