Biography
Peter joined NIWA as a Climate Scientist in 2021. His research primarily focuses on regional and global climate modelling. This includes analysing and working towards improving the representation of New Zealand's climate in dynamical (i.e. physics-based) models. Peter is also interested in novel ways to better understand uncertainty in regional climate change projections for New Zealand, including through the use of machine learning. Peter also works on better understanding the physical processes behind extreme weather and climate events for New Zealand, especially 'how' and 'why' these change under 21st century climate change.
