On 1 July 2025, NIWA merged with GNS Science to become Earth Sciences New Zealand.

Niki is currently doing a project with the Mahana School in the Tasman region. They are studying pressure this year and are hoping to see their styrofoam cups shrink if they make it deep enough into the ocean.
