The Ross Sea region is divided into different areas, called Small Scale Research Units (SSRUs), for the purposes of managing fishing. Only the green areas are currently fished. The rest are either closed by CCAMLR (grey areas), or not fishable due to depth (< 550 or > 2,000 m, white areas).
