Leadership Excellence Award winner: Richard O’Driscoll, Group Manager, Middle Depths & Acoustics, Wellington.
Richard was awarded for his management and hands-on conduct of fisheries science using deepwater and acoustics research methods.
He ran a $55 million dollar, 10-year deepwater research programme, used the Oceans 20/20 concept to conduct truly novel research on deepwater fisheries and, of course, he successfully took on the delivery of Happy Feet back to the Southern Ocean.
