Chlorotocus novaezealandiae

The shrimp Chlorotocus novaezealandiae occurs around much of New Zealand’s coast, in waters up to 200 metres deep. Females carry the turquoise eggs attached to the pleopods (swimming legs); the larger ‘side plates’ on the abdomen help protect the eggs. Credit: Rob Stewart
