Biography

I am interested in developing solutions for addressing real-world challenges using advanced technologies such as AI. My research interest is in the applications of machine learning and deep learning techniques with remote sensing. I have led research and projects on applications of AI technologies to sectors such as forestry, fisheries, environmental and marine monitoring and studies. I have expertise in distributed systems, machine learning, cloud computing, remote sensing and deep learning. I also worked on leveraging cloud platforms for operationalising AI and machine learning solutions for operational deployment and scaling.

I currently leads the AI and Deep Learning team in Earth Sciences New Zealand, where a key element of my role involves working with the senior science management team to formulate and deliver Earth Sciences New Zealand's AI strategy so that the organisation continues to deliver on innovation and science excellence. Some key domains my team and I works on application of AI includes (but not limited to) hazards modelling and mitigation, innovation for fisheries sector, marine ecology studies, weather and climate modelling, biosecurity and predicting energy supply.
