NASA MODIS Satellite photo of the sea ice around the Mertz Glacier. Aus 1 – 3 and Fra 1-3 are the Australian and French moorings we were hoping to retrieve during the voyage. Iceberg B09B is the old Mertz Tongue that broke off in 2010. Dumont D’urville is the French Antarctic Base. Still a lot of sea ice!
