Te Toro Āhuarangi o Anamata is a web browser application for displaying the latest climate change projections (CMIP6) on an interactive map.
This tool will let you access and visualise the latest climate change projections for your areas of interest and to explore what the climate may look like under different greenhouse gas emission scenarios. This tool may also be used to assist in discussions with whānau regarding the effects of climate change on various freshwater taonga species, customary resources, and practices, as well as to aid in climate adaptation planning.

About the tool
The app enables users to zoom into specific areas of interest while overlaying different variables and climate scenarios for different time periods.
It helps you to visualise how climate variables may change over different timescales and greenhouse gas emission scenarios.
Unique to this app, users are also able to overlay their waterways and the distribution of different freshwater fish species of interest (as voluntarily recorded in the New Zealand Freshwater Fish Database).

Acknowledgements
The app was developed by NIWA researchers and has been tested by Toitū Ngā Taonga Waimāori Whānau Whitebait Livelihoods, Te Mouriora Te Tai Ao focus study teams and NIWA’s Te Kūwaha team.
The name of the app, ‘Te Toro Āhuarangi o Anamata’, was provided by NIWA Pou Ārahi, Jay Hepi, to encapsulate the concept of exploring and understanding the current climate while preparing for future changes. It combines elements of exploration ("Te Toro"), climate ("Āhuarangi"), and the future ("Anamata"), reflecting the app's purpose in guiding users through climate-related knowledge and preparedness.
