Dr Jo Hoyle

Biography

Jo has a PhD in river geomorphology and a natural resources engineering degree. Jo worked as a river engineer for MWH in the Tasman District prior to completing her PhD at Macquarie University in Australia. She has worked for NIWA in Christchurch since 2008 and has been the Group Manager the Sediment Processes group since 2012. Jo is also the Client Liaison for commerical work with Meridian Energy Limited. Jo’s research focuses on how river geomorphology influences river ecosystems, and feedback relationships between flow, vegetation and geomorphology. Jo also has experience surveying river topography and bank erosion and analysing suspended sediment yields in monitored catchments.
