Biography

Chen Wang earned his PhD in Engineering from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, in 2020. He is a data scientist and a PI in many research projects at the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research, New Zealand's largest Crown Research Institute. Additionally, he serves as an Adjunct Research Fellow on teaching and research project supervisions at Victoria University of Wellington.

His research interests include, but are not limited to: (1) Developing dynamic and robust optimization techniques to address challenges related to climate change adaptation (e.g., sea-level rise, flooding), epidemic control policy, invasive marine species management, and resource allocation problems. (2) Advancing computer vision and spatiotemporal forecasting methods, including weather and marine heatwave forecasting, climate downscaling, and segmentation and pose-estimation tasks such as fish biomass estimation.
