Biography

Chen Wang earned his PhD in Engineering from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, in 2020. He is a data scientist and a PI in many research projects at the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research, New Zealand's largest Crown Research Institute. Additionally, he serves as an Adjunct Research Fellow on teaching and research project supervisions at Victoria University of Wellington.

His research interests encompass: (1) dynamic and robust optimization algorithms tailored for solving complex problems such as optimal climate sensor placement, climate downscaling, and nature hazard adaptation and planning; (2) reinforcement learning algorithms for virtual policy development addressing environmental and natural hazard challenges, such as optimal epidemic outbreak control; and (3) advanced time-series prediction models for renewable energy forecasting.
