Biography:
Chris is a Marine Ecologist specializing in marine aquaculture and biosecurity. Graduating from Victoria University of Wellington with a PhD on seahorse aquaculture, he has worked for NIWA since 1995. He has had a long-term involvement in NIWA’s national marine port baseline surveys and national targeted marine pest surveillance projects, and research on bivalve, finfish, crustacean and echinoderm culture/ecology. His present specialties include marine biofouling and the detection and control of non-indigenous species. He is Group Manager for the Christchurch Marine Ecosystems & Biosecurity group and an active Scientific Diver and small boat skipper.
