There were some tense moments (3 days actually) where we feared a mooring with $200,000 of gear and 3 months of data was frozen into the ice for 100’s of meters and so virtually un-retrievable. Fortunately it was only the top section and so with some gentle and not so gentle tugging we freed the line – this image shows part of the ice that had accreted around the line.
