Bay of Plenty Regional Science and Technology Fair overall winner, James Zingle from Bethlehem College, Tauranga. James invented a device that detected, through motion sensors, when his Grandma got out of bed in the morning. Through computer programming, the device would then automatically send his Mum an email to let her know that Gran was up and okay.
Waikato Science and Technology Fair overall winner, Amber Rowan-Sanders from St Peter's School, Cambridge with chief judge NIWA's Tracey Burton.
