R.V. Tangaroa departed Wellington for a month-long Subantarctic trawl survey on 25 November 2020.

The survey aims to estimate the relative abundance of hoki, hake, ling and other middle depth fish species in the Southland and Subantarctic area. This will be the nineteenth survey in the time series carried out on Tangaroa for Fisheries New Zealand with previous surveys carried out from 1991-1993, 2000-2009, 2011, and biennially since 2012.
