Streetlights with traps installed in Hagley Park, Christchurch for Experiment 1. High pressure sodium light on the left and 4000 K LED on the right. Transparent perspex traps that could be raised and lowered on a pulley from ground-level were installed on the streetlight poles. Non-toxic odourless sticky paste (Tanglefoot™) was painted on the traps, which captured insects flying around the lights. Traps were lowered and replaced each evening.
