NIWA’s marine ecology technicians processed 60 sediment samples from treatment and control sites during the Caulerpa response. The samples were sieved to retain the macrofauna (animals >500 um) which were identified and counted. This is a juvenile brittle star (Family: Amphuridae), present in macroinvertebrate samples collected from Whangaparapara and Tryphena. Photo: Michal Ferries, NIWA.
