The forecast map of hourly rainfall for 1pm, Sunday 27 March, from the forecast generated at 6pm the previous evening. It shows a band of strong convection of very high rain-rate (in the order of 32 - 64 mm in an hour) in red, just north of Porirua. The amount of rain and time were right, the location was slightly out. NIWA has about 100 climate weather stations positioned around NZ. The Mana station is indicated in the map.
