May 2010 river flows

May river flows were variable across New Zealand, ranging from well below normal in western parts of the North Island, to well above normal in the East Cape and much of Canterbury.

River flows, March to May 2010

Flows over the last three months (March to May 2010) were normal to well below normal over the entire North Island and the northern South Island. In contrast, flows were above normal or well above normal in the much of the rest of the South Island.

Outlook by region, June to August 2010

Northern North Island Normal or below normal streamflows are likely
Southwest North Island Normal or below normal streamflows are likely
Southeast North Island Normal streamflows are likely
Northern South Island Normal streamflows are likely
West and south South Island Normal streamflows are likely
Eastern South Island Normal streamflows are very likely
