Biography

I utilize geologic, geophysical, and oceanographic data to study transport of sediments, link tectonic and sedimentary processes, decipher records in marine stratigraphy, and evaluate long-standing assumptions in the deep-marine realm. My recent research has focused on (1) submarine canyon, channel, and fan evolution, (2) building blocks of deep-sea channels, (3) how processes of sediment transport are recorded and preserved in seabed deposits, and (4) marine geohazards, including turbidity currents, submarine landslides, and offshore active faults. I am particularly interested in sediment transfer across tectonically active, earthquake-prone continental margins.
