  • Want to know more about New Zealand’s icy visitors?
  • Did you know that the furthest north an iceberg has ever been seen is about 26? S, or about the same latitude as Brisbane?

NIWA has produced a public information leaflet about icebergs, with help from Vincent Aviation. This is available to download free. It outlines where the icebergs currently off the South Island probably came from, previous iceberg visits to New Zealand waters, how icebergs are named, the lifecycle of an iceberg, and other quirky facts and figures.
